some resin finish, some liquitex varnish finish, reworking a fail and a long drip pour.

Last couple of weeks I’ve sneaked some painting in, between house views and tidying for views. most of the stuff I brought in from shed/studio as its too cold to paint there has been hidden away in a big cupboard. I keep sneaking bits out to quick paint though…yesterday I had a finishing day on some that were now ready and cured. I did resin on three, I’m improving, one came out perfectly but other two will need second coat because of holes. I washed all three thoroughly first with fairy, the one that’s perfect had no silicone, but the others only had a little, and the northern lights inspired one has a coat of polycrylic varnish over which i thought would have stopped any holes…Ah well, a second coat tomorrow maybe. I do love resin finish and even though these aren’t perfect I keep sneaking back for a second look. I taped the edges and base with masking tape before pouring resin, then pulled it off about four hours later in case it stuck on and i couldn’t remove it 😉 and the edges were the best I’ve done so far so will do that again. The other four had Liquitex varnish, I do like the rich shine that gives but its prob spirit based as it smells strongly and the brush is a b!tch to clean after….
The three resin pics, first one is perfect but the other two….

see the holes? I wonder if maybe i didn’t have enough resin on, if more would have worked? Or if its just a silicon residue?

Worked more on the owl too, he * might * be finished…who knows?

I’ve some I want to add more too once dry, this one started as flowers, was a fail so got swiped. The added more black and white and swiped again, a few times in fact til I got this. Its going to be some kind of rain scene, maybe trees or rocks.

this one was not quite right in centre, and I came back about an hour of so after pouring and it annoyed me so I swiped down centre with a spatula. as it had begun to dry it didn’t go how i wanted but did look like a waterfall. well waterfall- ish 😉 So when it was dry i poured either side to create rocks, added a little pure colour on edges, and did some swiping to create flat areas. I’m a bit stuck now so I need to keep looking and have a think. I don’t really want to add in green for grass, maybe just some silhouette grasses and a coupe of branches? Dunno yet…

I’m stuck on this, it looks a bit like a big wave but I really don’t know what to do with it now…It’ll come.

long drip pour, i made a hole on pot then hung it over canvas and let it drip, did a little tilting to manipulate paint to where i wanted it but not much.

This is just 3x3inches. I was trying to create a geode effect. I like it, but seem to be in a minority!

These have the liquitex varnish, shines more than my usual polycrylic gloss but the smell…as i was using resin I decided I’d do all the pongy stuff at once.

see how shiny it is. though not sure I like this pic, i was playing with colour and lines and might have overdone it!

I'm an avid reader, love my kindle and I have my head in a novel for hours daily : ) Mum used to say I'd read toilet paper if it was printed- it wasn't, so i had to contend myself with the back and sides of the cereal packets. I've always Needed to read and we had few books when i was a child hence my penchant for reading anything including adverts then... I review mainly contemporary, erotic and paranormal romance books though dystopian and urban fantasy also appeal. I'm currently rated around the 300 mark on amazon.co.uk for my reviews. I try to keep them structured and to say what I do and don't like about a book so other readers can use my review as a guide to whether they may enjoy the book.
